Antique Romanian Folk Art Painted Bridal Chest

Special antique bridal chest, dating from around 1900. The chest is a beautiful example of German folk art that found its way to Romania at the time. The chest is made of pine wood and painted in a warm green base colour, richly decorated with hand-painted floral motifs. The paint layer has naturally worn over the years, giving the chest an authentic, lived-in and characteristic appearance. The chest has been carefully checked and restored, including replacement of the hinges. Old, sporadically present woodworm traces have been checked and treated. An exceptionally decorative item for lovers of country furniture, folk art or special interior accents.
