The crazy charm of the real bridge chair with red skai coating with a white ecru piping! It must be from the 1950s or maybe 60. When I adopted it, its structure was partly dislocated and the skai seemed unrecoverable so much it was drowned under the dirt! I disassembled sitting and backing so I could re-entangle and glue the structure back together. I took the opportunity to carefully clean each part. I was able to realize that the skai was finally still in good condition for his age! So I decided not to touch the red skai so typical of this chair model. So I just reinforced the seat by inserting (below) the thin and flexible cardboard between the original padding and the two flat springs, so that the springs "mark" less the skai. I also replaced the fabric in the underside. I spent two light layers of light oak varnish on the structure to unify the whole: the places where the varnish had disappeared, the places where I removed the varnish by punctuating a scratch or a stain too marked... But the wood obviously still has various spots and stripes, and normal given the age of this chair. And also a dark coloration on the feet (which seems to me to be due to regular contact with water, the kind of coloring you get when you pass, year after year, the mop around the feet!) The skai is in good condition, just two traces of punching (the largest is visible in one of the photos) and some stains or discolorations (maybe even original?). This chair is 81 cm high, 53 cm at the widest, and about fifty cm deep. The seat is about 47 cm high. It weighs about 7 or 8 kg.
