Jean Gillon office chair late 1960s

Magnificent office chair designed by jean gillon and produced in brazil by italma at the end of the 1960s. Solid wood legs by louro preto. The chair does not swivel. Slight trace of wear on the leather backrest. Restoration by the previous owner of part of the wooden veneer on the upper part of the backrest (visible in the back photo). Although romanian by birth, architect and designer jean gillon has always had heart and soul for his adopted country, brazil. The country's revered culture and architecture served as a muse for its mid-century furniture designs. Today, gillon is among the most interesting figures of brazilian modernism, which is characterized by sensual forms and handcrafted chairs, tables, and cabinets from exotic hardwoods.
