Old fan in painted silk and bone strands engraved 1900

This beautiful antique fan is made of bone and silk cream soulor. It is adorned with a delightful painted decoration of gallant stage surrounded by delicate flowers. The strands and plume are made of bone and decorated with gilded engraved motifs. It measures 22 cm X 41 cm wingspan. It shows traces of use (wear, loose strands, gaps and fragilities of the fabric). It was reinforced from the back with tissue paper and water glue. It does not close. A superb testimony of the fashion accessories of the time... The women of yesteryear minauded with their pretty fan in front of their faces: concealing - revealing in an elegant game of seduction.
