Brutalist solid oak sideboard with hand-forged iron hardware, Belgium, 1970s

Impressive large Brutalist sideboard in solid oak, dating from around the 1970s. This substantial statement piece features beautiful craftsmanship and a strong Belgian/Flemish character. The cabinet has four doors, with the two central doors richly decorated with deeply carved geometric panels. The outer doors have a more restrained plank construction and are fitted with striking black hand-forged iron strap hinges and hardware. The warm oak grain, architectural construction, and oversized proportions give this sideboard a powerful presence. At 220 cm wide, it is particularly suited to a large dining room, living room, country house, or hospitality interior. Good vintage condition with age-related signs of use and patina consistent with its age. The oak retains a beautiful warm colour and character.
