This miniature portrait represents a tavern drinker, typical of the 17th century. Concerning the artist, we found on the back a name in pencil "brouwer". We are not certain about the painter, the painting does not bear a signature, however after research on sites such as artprice, the touch really makes one think of adriaen brouwer. We are not talking about attribution, we do not designate the painter with certainty. Adriaen brouwer (1605-1638) is a painter and draftsman from the southern netherlands specializing in genre scenes. Brouwer mainly painted tavern or tobacco shop scenes, printing a decisive renewal to genre painting from old examples of brueghelian rusticity, but with an incomparable technical refinement that gives these flemish "beggarries" access to a truly dramatic and moving large painting. The frame has a beautiful gold leaf. We report rubbing and scratches, cracks, small white dots, however the work remains in a generally acceptable condition. Note wear of gilding and small lacks on the frame. For the condition please detail the photos. Do not hesitate to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: - frame height: 13.4 cm thickness: 3.5 cm width: 13.7 cm - view height: 7 cm width: 7.2 cm a4478.
