Description
Oil and gouache watercolor by the french painter jules girardet (1856-1938) entitled roseraie de bagatelle, painter around 1930. As its name suggests, it immortalizes the rose garden of the bagatelle park in paris, which is one of the most important and ancient rose gardens in france. This is one of the last works that the artist painted before his death. An internationally renowned french painter, jules girardet has several of his works exhibited in french museums, but also at the williamson art gallery & museum in birkenhead (uk) where his oil on canvas le général lescure blessé passe la loire à saint-laurent (1882) is exhibited. The watercolor is in good condition, and is hand-signed by the artist at the bottom right.
