Decorative plate CORNEILLE (Cornelis Guillaume van Beverloo was born in 1922 and passed away in 2010 in Paris.) Composition with a red bird, signed Corneille on the back. Glazed polychrome ceramic plate. H: 3 cm Ø: 30 cm. This Dutch artist of Belgian origin was a co-founder of the influential COBRA art group. From 1940 to 1943, he studied at the Amsterdam Academy of Fine Arts, but he is largely a self-taught painter. The painting style is typical of his figurative works created after 1960.
