Melon-shaped faience from Gien, Renaissance decor, white background, late 19th century.

Melon dish from the famous Gien pottery. Renaissance model with a white background. Hand-painted decoration, exceptional craftsmanship. In the 19th century, pottery factories used enamel compositions whose whiteness varied according to raw materials, opacifiers, and firing conditions. This allowed for the creation of cream, grayish, or slightly ivory whites, as seen on this melon dish. Black Gien monogram on the back with an embossed mark "F" (see the last two photos), compatible with a production date of 1883. Perfect condition. Dimensions: Diameter: 26.70 cm. Height: 8.20 cm. Total weight: 1.20 kg. > Other items from the Gien factory are for sale in our Selency shop.
