The plates are in good condition, no losses, no cracks or chips. They are in a very satisfactory state of conservation, however, they date from the end of the 19th century, and have been used, so they have, over time, become "cracked", that is to say that the white background has yellowed, turned gray in places, and today appears as a beige marbled patina, which does not prevent them from being used, and gives them a very touching antique and bohemian appearance. They are made of iron earth, which indicates fine earthenware, halfway between earthenware and porcelain. It is more precisely an earthenware to which feldspat, a mineral compound, and kaolin are mixed, to make it whiter and more resistant. It is very good quality tableware, quite heavy, and which has stood the test of time. The plates are marked on the reverse with the ink stamp of the brand of the pexonne earthenware factory, in meurthe-et-moselle, accompanied by the two letters ff for fenal frères. It was one of the oldest earthenware factories in lorraine, created in the 18th century, and which closed in the 1950s. All the patterns are different for six of the plates, and the seventh is a double. The decorations are very delicate, with “ox blood” red ink, with birds and plants gracefully represented. French production from the end of the 19th century.
