Old stock pot or American stockpot

White earthenware broth pot with pewter lid. Also called american pot, was used to make a meat juice used in medicine and given to the sick. The pot closes airtight with a tin screw lid. The meat juice was cooked in a bain-marie. The 3 small holes at the base allow bubbles to pass through and thus maintain the stability of the pot. The small white intermediate cover is missing but otherwise it is in very good condition. Height 13 cm diameter 9 cm.
