Rare and early 'Orseolo' dining table or desk, designed by Carlo Scarpa in 1972 for Simon International. Simon was founded in 1968 by Dino Gavina and Maria Simoncini, following the sale of Gavina's earlier company. The table is composed of bold panels finished in deep black high-gloss lacquer, interrupted by small satin-finished aluminium joints that subtly reveal its construction. The layered top, softly rounded edges and two broad supports create a carefully balanced combination of visual lightness and structural solidity. This original vintage example retains its Simon label and predates the collection's inclusion by Cassina. The surface shows some superficial scratches, yet remains in very good vintage condition for an original period Simon edition of this model.
