Description
According to charles cressent: exceptional regency style minister's desk, at the time intended for the offices of rich aristocrats from the beginning of the 18th century. This piece of cabinetmaking is a masterpiece of parisian creation from the end of the 19th century. It is dressed in sumptuous violet, amaranth and satin wood and enhanced with beautiful chiseled and gilded bronzes. Leather covers the sinuous top surrounded by an ingot mold and leafy spandrels. The sinuous belt opens to three drawers, each framed with bronze rods with drop handles. The middle drawer, narrower and recessed, is highlighted by whiskers. Scraps of epaulettes adorn the pinch of the upper legs. Abundantly arched feet ending in clawed slippers. Period circa 1880. Dimensions: h78x178x105.
