2857 – vintage, this large “cannes” model cigar ashtray designed by marc lalique (1900-1977) in translucent molded crystal with repolished satin parts with a motif of octopus tentacles in relief in good condition. No cracks or chips. Height 52mm X 194mm. Weight 1510 g. Very careful and tracked shipping. For information, marc lalique, son of rené lalique, is at the origin of the transition from glass to crystal in the early 1950s. After studying at the school of decorative arts in paris, marc lalique joined his father in the company family in 1922. When he died in 1945, marc took over the management of the company and quickly became one of the best glassmakers not only in france but in the entire world. The contrast between pure transparency and satin shine becomes lalique's trademark, in france and abroad. He died in 1977, his daughter marie-claude has since been at the head of cristallerie lalique.
