Description
Stylish british production theatre spotlight/projector - strand rank - 1950s "egg shape" type mounted on an adjustable wooden tripod converted into a beautiful home/desk lamp with a unique design. Imagined by the aircraft designer morgan mcleod and manufactured in the 50s in england, it was the first to have been mass-produced and aluminum. This iconic example of british design was made by the strand lighting company in their workshops in covent garden in london's west end. A rare model that has been restored to give it a second life. The head has been stripped and polished to restore the chrome metal to its full sparkle. The 500-watt lamp and bayonet were removed and replaced with a regular screw bayonet that takes regular household bulbs or energy savers. New black vintage woven cotton wiring was also installed with a grounded on/off switch. A wonderful piece of british theatre history in your home or office. Dimensions: l 58 X d 58 X h 105 (lowest) / h 157 (tripod unfolded) / h 177 (head and tripod fully unfolded) Origin: england. Period: 50s. Designer: morgan mcleod.
