Set of eleven dessert plates in fine white faience, marked Lunéville-Badonviller. Circular shape with a narrow rim, border highlighted with a fine golden line. Several polychrome decorations in the centre depict horse-drawn carriages and scenes of promenades: one or two-horse teams, figures in costume, and a blue cart, set in wooded landscapes. The Lunéville and Badonviller factories belong to the significant faience tradition of Lorraine. The Badonviller factory, founded by Théophile Fenal in 1898, absorbed the Lunéville-Saint-Clément factories between 1922 and 1925; together they became one of the main French faience groups, peaking in production around 1950. The figurative decoration related to horses and promenades recalls the historicising repertoire frequently used in tableware from the 20th century. The set can now be used for desserts, cheese, or small starters, or be mismatched with simpler crockery. Dimensions: diameter 18.5 cm; height 1.5 cm. Total weight: 5 kg. Generally in good condition, with signs of use and occasional wear on the golden border visible in the photographs. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
