Leather cabin suitcase from the 1940s – 50s in good general condition. High weight testifying to the robustness of the object's manufacturing exterior appearance: brown split leather covering sewn with metal pads to support the ground on the bottom and the edge; numerous traces and scratches testifying to the use of the suitcase slight sagging of the upper metal crosspiece, most probably due to the fact that the passengers sat on their suitcase to wait before or during their trip. Key locks (keys provided); a clasp was replaced at the time. Brown leather handle notable presence of several original labels including 2 stuck on the lid: - cabin trip by boat on the “steamer” esperia (*) of the venetian company adriatica between genova (genoa) and beirut in the name of the owner (my father actually made this trip in 1957 to settle in beirut) - hotel savoy santiago de chile (trip circa 1948) - another registration label is on one side. Labels partially torn but perfectly readable interior appearance: covering in fine pinkish beige leather; a pair of integral support straps; a leather pocket in the lid, intended to hold travel documents; small stains and light scratches on the interior upholstery. * images and the history of this liner which served beirut are easily found on the internet.
