Description
Memory of a vanished time when perfumes intoxicated all the senses, these 3 bottles have a base with cut sides. They stand in a sober elegance to end with a wide collar with a rounded edge surrounded by gold. Golden bands highlight their lines with large sides ornamented with pretty flowers painted on each side. The cap harmonizes with the bottle. The use of perfume dates back to antiquity. The perfume bottles were then made of wood, metal, stone or clay. The shape also varied: from amphorae to jars and bottles. Although glass is the most suitable material for the art of perfumery, porcelain allows a better preservation of the fragrance away from light. These bottles are characteristic of the bottles produced at the end of the 19th century. The decoration of painted roses is probably inspired by the elixir kept inside. This type of bottle is reserved for a privileged clientele. In the 19th century, these bottles are generally accompanied by other essential elements for the toilet such as blush boxes, ointment jars, cream... These sets are called toilet fillings. Here we are simply left with the 3 bottles presented. These bottles relate to the work of jacob petit, a parisian porcelain maker of the 19th century who developed a production of astonishing extravagance, while the art of porcelain fell into the industry. It is a real success. Today his pieces are sought after for their originality and the quality of their finish. It is difficult here to really date these pieces because no brand or signature is present. Heights 13/12/11 cm.
