Original Indian ink drawing by Jean Villette (1913-2005)

I am selling this original drawing signed jean villette (1913-2005), artist and historian from chartres, specialist in chartres and its cathedral, to which he devoted numerous works. This indian ink wash represents the bell tower of a country church, probably from the chartres region, seen from a tree-lined courtyard. In the foreground, roofs, stone walls, plants and a watering can. On the back, a yellow sticker inscribed “8” testifies to the probable exhibition of this drawing during the artist's lifetime: this drawing was acquired as a lot during an auction in chartres in september 2023 during the dispersal of the jean villette collection; the twenty other drawings, charcoals or lithographs which made up the lot also have stickers on the back, or even annotations in the artist's hand. I kept some of them, i'm getting rid of the others because I don't have enough walls to hang them all! Very good condition: no tears or defects to report. The photographs are an integral part of the description: look at them carefully! Sheet format: h. 42 X l. 32.2 cm. Drawing format: h. 30 X l. 21.5 cm.
