Landscape of a large wild forest conducive to walks and legends. Hello. I am offering an authentic oil on canvas in perfect condition, signed Emmanuel Meyer, an impressionist painter of Swiss origin from the 19th century. This work represents a very dense forest with two tiny characters (photo n ° 7) as well as other silhouettes giving free rein to the imagination favorable to walks and legends. Majestic trees populate a fallow and visibly poorly maintained forest, giving a gigantic and astonishing visual rendering. This oil on canvas is to be compared to those of Narcisse Diaz de la Pena, Jean-Baptiste Corot or Théodore Rousseau in a style always very close to nature. This work remains of museum quality. Dimensions with frame: 49 cm X 62 cm. Dimensions of the frame: 40 cm X 54 cm. The canvas is sufficiently stretched thanks to the recent installation of tie rods protruding 1 centimeter on the 4 sides (see photo of the back of the canvas). These tie rods are not visible on the back of the canvas because they are covered by the frame. The key frame is original, it has been cleaned by a professional ... A sturdy frame from the end of the 19th century has been restored (glued, nailed and stapled), then a gilding cover has been made. The whole is ready to be hung. Emmanuel Meyer was born in 1836 and died in 1902, an artist recognized by professionals, his works are rare on the art market. Family painting in perfect condition for its age. If possible, it is preferable to favor a hand delivery in Bourg-la-Reine (meeting proposed at the station of the same name on the RER B for example, 4 km from the Porte d'Orléans, Paris). All proposals will be studied but not all will be accepted (see the last photos).
