Pair of Occasional Tables with Mahogany Doors and Brass Inlays. Work F

Each piece of furniture features a quadrangular mahogany body with a front opening through a door adorned with a frame of raised brass fillets, centred on a brass ring handle. The front posts are half-columns with fluting, edged with brass, extending into elegantly curved saber legs finished with brass sabot; the top is highlighted by a brass reed. This neoclassical vocabulary — blonde mahogany, brass fillets, fluted columns — stylistically links this pair to the productions of Maison Jansen, the great Parisian decoration house founded in 1880, supplier to royal courts, whose 1940s accent furniture combines rigor and refinement. Condition report: Good overall condition. Mahogany with a beautiful warm patina, slight signs of use possible on the veneers, healthy brass. An ideal pair for elegant bedside tables or small storage furniture in a living room.
