Japanese storage chest with drawers, made during the Meiji period, at the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. This piece was intended for storing clothes, textiles, or documents, combining a large upper compartment with three front drawers. The chest is entirely made of Japanese cedar, a lightweight and stable wood, traditionally used for portable storage furniture. The hinged top lid provides easy access to the interior, while the lower drawers allow for finer organisation. The original metal fittings, visible on the corners, the lock, and the handles, reinforce the structure and highlight the authentic character of the piece. The surface exhibits a deep and sincere patina, marked by time and use.
