We offer you jean jaffeux (1913-2015) maternity enameled lava ceramic plate very good condition jean jaffeux (1913-2015) ceramist enameler on lava and painter. Son of charles jaffeux, painter, illustrator and engraver and grandson of a painter, jean jaffeux was born in 1931 in riom (puy de dôme, auvergne). Inspired by his father's work, he painted as a self-taught artist from the age of 15. And quite naturally in the parental lineage, he draws advertisements and illustrations. “the only transmission I had from my father were my eyes to observe his works. » following the discovery of the enameled lava technique at the saint martin workshop in mozac, he decided to make his talent as a decorative painter available to this new medium, volcanic stone, which is abundant in the auvergne region...jean jaffeux thus works alongside jean borel (1896-1990), a great enameler on lava. Subsequently, the 'local child' decides to open his own craft workshop. For more than fifty years, jean jaffeux has been working on the art of enameled lava for interior decoration (living room tables, wall paintings, etc.) and the outdoor environment. His workshop also serves as a place for exchange and sharing: young artists from the region pass there to acquire the technique of enamelling on lava, such as the painter louis dussour (1905-1986), yves seurat, léopold chevalier, adrien rougier, marie-alix delaire, or even marie and françois lienhard (son of jean lienhard, enameler on lava)... The painter and cardboard maker jean lurçat (1892-1966) has been interested in enameled lava since 1948 thanks to his friend paul correct (1923-2009), who has his own workshop in sainte foy la grand (gironde). On several occasions, he met jean jaffeux for tapestry projects. Coffee table, jean jaffeux photo © c.lavenu approaching retirement, jean jaffeux decides to paint on canvas again.
