Century-old solid oak bench

I work 95% with recycled materials to be in accordance with my respectful and virtuous environmental approach. I fight standardization and advocate ethical craftsmanship. Each of my creations is unique. I work in the old-fashioned way with hand tools (as far as possible) and ancestral assembly techniques handed down by ancient cabinetmakers. For the record, a friend offered me these 200-year-old beams which were sleeping in her cellar in ardèche. They were very heavy and difficult to handle. I started by cutting them up and drawing my finished pieces. Then there was a lot of sanding to remove the damaged parts. Then I applied a treatment against xylophene following the manufacturer's protocol. I then made my tenons/mortises and assembled my pieces. The final stage was the finishing treatment and priming. The result is a piece of character, unique, massive with a history of around 2 hundred years. I am proud to give a second life to these beams and above all a practical function in everyday life. This piece can be used as a bench, a display stand, an end of a bed, a tv stand. It will fit perfectly into a modern interior and will have a great effect.
