French empire-style commode, with beautiful continuous floral mahogany over all drawers, Marais grey hardstone top (marble). Full mahogany volutes with original, special fire-gilded brass lock entrances. Original locks. The top drawer is a 'blind drawer' with two invisible handles on the underside of the slightly overhanging drawer, with beautifully detailed fire-gilded bronze fittings. The sides are fitted with a mahogany panel without cracks! Entirely on block feet. France, good quality, around 1825. Avenue. H= 88.5 cm. B= 80.5 - 86.5 cm. (Side measured - sheet width) D= 47 - 54 cm. (Shallowest - deepest measurement of the blade) Recently thoroughly inspected for loose parts of construction and veneer.
