François Allier (1793, Embrun - 1870, Paris). Bust of man, first half of the 19th century. Patinated plaster . H 70 cm. Note from Benezit: He was first in the military; in 1818 he entered Gros's workshop; he soon gave up painting for sculpture. In 1822 he exhibited two statues: Young Sailor dying and Camille, returning from Ardée, reversing the scales of the Gauls. He is also best known for the busts of Sully (Arsenal Library), Baude, Labbey de Pompières and The Account of Hauterive (Grenoble), in 1833, the busts of Arago and Odilon Barrot and the masqye of Napoleon I dead, modelled in memory. In 1854, a small marble statue of Ariane earned him a second-class medal. It is still mentioned: Eloquence, statue in the cemetery of Père Lachaise.
