Here is an elegant little piece of furniture with its slender legs and lovely marquetry decoration made from several types of wood. I imagine it is a stool, but it could also serve as a side table, bedside table, or end table. The base seems to be in the Art Deco style, blending curves and straight lines, but the pattern on the seat appears a bit simple, perhaps too linear for that era, unless it was made by a novice carpenter. Indeed, underneath, there is a pencil inscription of Garribotto Alain and what seems to be the name of a carpentry business. Unfortunately, despite this information, I have not been able to find a lead that could provide details about the history of this stool, but perhaps you will succeed, and I would be very happy about that. It is in very good structural condition, solid, stable, but shows some signs of its age: small marks or light stains. And a few original defects: a small chip on one leg (probably a knot in the wood), the marquetry cut has some imperfections... All this makes me think that perhaps the base was "rejected" by the company for sale due to the small chip on the leg, and that an apprentice was allowed to finish it for personal use (hence the presence of his name and the name of the company). It could therefore date from the first half of the 20th century. It measures 50 cm in height and 31 cm by 31 cm in width.
