This exquisite liqueur set is made of Saint-Louis crystal. The set comprises a superb decanter with a deep burgundy overlay and six liqueur glasses. It is the Bristol pattern, decorated with a regular, flat-ribbed cut. This pattern appears in the 1930 Saint-Louis catalog, notably under the name Joseph and Ampère, with cut number 10562, and was later renamed Bristol. The overlay technique is a Saint-Louis specialty: a first layer of clear crystal is covered with a second colored layer, which is then cut to reveal the underlying crystal. Two of the glasses are chartreuse green, two are light pink, and the remaining two are burgundy and violet-red. The stoppers are also cut and fit perfectly. Unsigned, this liqueur set dates from the 1930s, before Saint-Louis began using its signature. The carafe is in very good condition and measures 26 cm high X 9 cm in diameter. There is a slight imperfection in the red color, like a ribbon. The glasses measure 12.5 cm high X 4.5 cm in diameter. There is a very small chip on the inside rim of the red glass. I should also mention some minor scratches from use and small bubbles in the crystal.
