As the managing director of Standard Möbel, he played a key role in the dissemination and marketing of modern furniture, particularly that with tubular steel structures, which profoundly influenced the style of the Bauhaus avant-garde. For Anton Lorenz, tubular steel embodied the spirit of the Bauhaus movement in its quest for a perfect "machine" aesthetic better than any other material. It enabled the creation of radically new constructions, such as the cantilever chair or Breuer's B3 club chair. At the helm of Standard Möbel, he collaborated with iconic Bauhaus figures like MART, Stam, and Marcel Breuer. He also created his own models, such as the "LS 22" reclining chair and the D35 cantilever chair, presented here. Anton Lorenz passed away in the United States in 1964.
