Award-winning piccolo brown and chrome table lamp by lyfa of denmark, 1970s. The international forum (if) product design awards have been presented annually since 1953 to products deemed by an international committee of experts to be of outstanding excellence in design. Recipients include this piccolo table lamp, created by danish lighting company lyfa and awarded the if product design award in 1975. Out of production since the late 1970s, the piccolo was a very high-quality production, made from extremely strong metal, with a weighted base for stability, as a consequence of which the lamp weighs over 3kg. It has a height of 57 cm and a base diameter of 23 cm, with an overall width of 33cm due to the overhang of the lamp head beyond the base diameter. The position of the lamp head is adjustable and can be moved up and down the glossy chrome stem simply by sliding it, but grips the stem securely once repositioned. The head also swivels freely around 180 degrees in both clockwide and anticlockwise directions so can be pointed directly upwards, downwards or anywhere in between these positions. The lamp is in excellent condition, the bright orange paintwork glossy with just a few small scrapes to the base (see photos). It takes a standard edison screw bulb max 60w (not supplied) and is fitted with an online on/off switch and a european-style two-pin plug. Condition: the lamp have same marks on the shade and rust on the foot, please see pictures.
