Rare Cocoon pendant lamp made of teak, manufactured in Italy in the 1960s. The main feature of this iconic pendant lamp by architect Achille Castiglioni is the new material used in its production. The structure is made of metal covered with sprayed Cocoon plastic. Cocoon is a sprayed plastic coating reinforced with fiberglass, invented after World War II, initially used to protect decommissioned ships. This innovative material was imported to Italy and used to make lampshades. The lamp is in very good vintage condition with no damage. Dimensions: width 40 cm, height 30 cm, height with cable 100 cm. The lamp requires a European E27 bulb and is compatible with an E26 socket in the USA, working with standard, LED, or halogen bulbs, 220V for Europe and 110V for the USA. The cable may be original and might need replacing if not specified otherwise.
