Maison rovina in epinal: of italian origin, giuseppe rovina opened a store in épinal at the end of the eighteenth century. Apolline, his wife, had the idea of opening points of sale in the vosges spa towns, where russian princes were captivated by their productions. His sons-in-law, henri husson and jean schmitt, then created the maison rovina in 1840; they stocked up on enamelled biscuits from all the earthenware factories in the region (including lunéville, saint-clément, badonviller or aprey) on which they affixed their floral or bird decorations, or custom-made decorations, on request, for large families and in particular the empress eugenie. Rovina counted three generations of earthenware decorators, "painters in rooms" or "chambrelans", who worked at home.
