Fireplace trim, Black and bronze marble, Napoleon III era

Beautiful antique fireplace trim consisting of a clock and a pair of cassolettes. The black marble clock rests on lions' feet and is topped with a bronze medici vase engraved with eight faces of greek gods and adorned with a garland of vine leaves and ribbons. Both sides of the clock are decorated with lion heads holding handles in their mouths. The cassolettes are also adorned with masks and lions' paws, and inside their cups are medallions depicting a man and a woman represented in the ancient way. The numbers 9 and 12 are missing from the dial. French work of the mid-nineteenth century. The only decorative element, no guarantee that the clock will work after transport.
