This bookcase was designed by Johannes Sorth for the Danish furniture manufacturer Bornholms Møbelfabrik during the 1960s. Crafted from teak veneer, the piece represents the characteristic qualities of Danish Mid-Century Modern design, combining a clean form with functionality and high-quality craftsmanship. The bookcase features five height-adjustable shelves, allowing their arrangement to be adapted to the items being stored or displayed. The structure gently tapers towards the top, giving the tall piece a sense of visual lightness and elegant proportions. The bookcase is raised on slender, slightly tapered legs connected at the base by a sculpted stretcher, which forms a distinctive structural detail of the design. The piece has undergone comprehensive woodworking restoration. The wooden elements were stripped of the old coating and finished with high-quality oil, which protects the surface while enhancing the natural warm colour and grain of the teak.
