Chinese buffet, early twentieth century

Decorated with bird motifs and lotus flowers, this piece of furniture with plenty of storage has all the finery of asian furniture from the turn of the twentieth century. While japonism has seduced europe since the universal exhibition in paris in 1878, merchants - including siegfried bing - specialized in the import of chinese furniture. Perhaps our furniture was imported by one of these many european merchants, very active with chinese craftsmen. The whole is in very good condition.
