3-seater Impala sofa de Gillis Lundgren, Ikea, 1972

Gillis lundgren (1929-2016), 4th employee of the ikea company and designer of the billy range of furniture, created the impala sofa in 1972. The latter will be marketed from 1972 to 1974 in 2 versions of armchairs (top and bottom) and in daybed version. There is, however, a 3-2-1 salon version that was never marketed. The armchair and the 2-seater reappeared in hanover in 2018 where they were sold via ebay, and here is the 3-seater sofa of this set attributed to the designer. Impala seats are in the top 10 of ikea's rarest and most sought-after items at auction.
