Slatted oak bench. Designed by Yngvar Sandström for Nordiska Kompaniet in the 1960s. Original maker’s mark present. “Tokyo” model bench designed by Yngvar Sandström for NK – Nordiska Kompaniet during the second half of the 1960s. Crafted in solid oak, the bench stands out for the linear rhythm of its slatted seat and the loop-shaped design of the side supports. The curved base introduces a more sculptural and international sensibility compared to stricter Nordic minimalism, reflecting the Scandinavian design scene of the 1960s and its growing openness to Japanese influences and organic forms. Original manufacturer’s label present underneath the seat. Good condition. It may show some signs of age. Please pay close attention to the photographs. AG015.
