A beautifully time-worn primitive cabinet with a strong wabi-sabi presence, raised on distinctive sledge (slipper) feet, a feature often found in earlier vernacular furniture. Built from thick, wide planks with a deep, authentic patina, the surface shows honest age: visible grain, shrinkage lines, old cracks and wear consistent with long use. The cabinet has two separate doors (upper and lower) with hand-forged iron strap hinges and simple round knobs. At some point the doors were rehung in reverse; they have been returned to what appears to be their original orientation, so the cabinet presents as intended while preserving its historic character. Inside, a fixed shelf creates two practical storage compartments. Artisan-made, anonymous and marked by time: exactly the honest character that makes early vernacular furniture so special. Ideal as a small pantry cupboard, bathroom cabinet or entryway storage in a calm, minimal interior, and at home with primitive, rustic, wabi-sabi, country and folk art pieces. Good antique condition consistent with age and use. Expected surface wear, marks, old splits/cracks, irregularities and patina to the wood and ironwork. The doors were previously rehung and have been returned to the presumed original orientation. Structurally solid and stable.
