Black gothic display cabinet

This is a useful cabinet which dates to the late 1800s. It could serve a variety of purposes, for displaying small treasures, for toiletries in a bathroom or perhaps as a gin cabinet. The cabinet is low, shallow and fairly lightweight, made of mahogany and pine, the compact size makes it ideal for a home with limited space. It is quite decorative with a single large glazed door to the front and gold ormolu mounts. The door opens to reveal two thin removable shelves which are set on narrow batons set onto the sides. I have hand painted the exterior in my own mix of black chalk based paint before distressing the finish well and waxing the paintwork for protection. The paintwork is solid colour with a smooth low sheen finish. The interior has been painted in a very pale blue colour which contrasts well against the dark paintwork. CONDITION The cabinet is quite basically made and has marks of age and use. The glass is old and original and has many air bubbles and imperfections. The shelves are quite thin and rustic.
