Art Deco Oak Shaving Cabinet with Mirror Door and Drawer, Belgium, 1900

An early 20th century Belgian wall cabinet in solid oak, designed as a shaving cabinet with a clean, architectural outline. A moulded cornice crowns the case, and the door is fitted with its original bevelled mirror glass and a decorative brass knob. Behind the mirror door are two shelves, and below sits a full-width drawer with a matching brass pull, ideal for keeping small things neatly at hand. The warm oak has a beautiful aged patina and well-made traditional joinery throughout. The mirror glass shows spots and some loss of silvering, which adds to its authentic character, and there are marks on the inside of the door, consistent with age and use. A charming and practical piece for a bathroom, hallway or entrance.
