Old hand-push brass candlestick

This type of vintage hand candlestick, equipped with a wide saucer-like bobeche and a ring handle for transport, was an everyday object in the interiors of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The side-push system allowed the burnt candle end to be ejected without burning one's fingers. Used both by the bedside and in corridors and staircases before the arrival of electricity, it embodies that small portable light so characteristic of old-fashioned vigils. Sold in its original condition with visible signs of wear as shown in the photos.
