Very nice pressed glass vase in good condition from the Hermanova Hut glassworks, Sklo Union. Design: Frantisek Peceny (1920 - 1977) Model No. 20245/180 from 1972. Height: 18 cm. Color: Clear glass, slightly amber. Bubbles and traces inherent in glassmaking may be present. *** About Frantisek Peceny: Peceny belongs to the first generation of glassmakers, who began working with pressed glass after the war. He studied at the Prague School of Arts and Crafts. In 1947, he became an artist at the Hermanova Hut, which later became the Glass Union. From the very beginning, he tried to give pressed glass an artistic value, which would distinguish it from imitation cut glass. This designer's creations are characterized primarily by the use of the optical quality of glass. He uses simple surfaces and then adds various lens effects. In the 1970s, as a master of decoration, he applied relief decoration, particularly floral ornamentation. František Pečený had a serious accident in the mid-1960s, losing an eye. After recovering, he returned to work. František Pečený's pressed glass has been exhibited, for example, at Expo 58 in Brussels, at Czechoslovak Glass Moscow 1959, and at the Czech Pressed Glass Gottwaldow 1972 exhibition. *** Careful shipping or hand delivery is possible free of charge in Paris.
