Watercolour painting (dating from the 19th century) depicting a lively landscape with a cottage and a flock drinking. The work is signed Gué for Jean-Marie Oscar Gué (see attached biography), 1809-1877 - (well-documented artist, present in several national museums, sale record at 10,000 euros - source Artprice). Beautiful composition (paper slightly and uniformly sun-bleached), in its original frame (note that the frame will require significant restoration - see photos, which are contractual). Dimensions of the view: 22 / 31 cm, with frame: 37 / 47 cm Brief biography: Jean-Marie Oscar Gué was a French painter born in Bordeaux on 28 September 1809 and died in the same city on 30 September 1877. He was a student of his uncle Julien-Michel Gué (1789-1843) and Jean Alaux (1786-1864). He received a medal in 1834 and in 1840. He painted a series of historical paintings, some in collaboration with Jean Alaux, for the Museum of French History at the Château de Versailles. In 1876, he completed the painting The Holy Women at the Tomb of Christ, begun by Julien-Michel Gué. He became a teacher at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
