Great signed 19th century painting, Judith and Holofernes

Cod: 11001. Italian painting from the second half of the 19th century. Oil on canvas artwork, first canvas (with partial relining), depicting a biblical subject, judith with the head of holofernes. In her story, a young widow saves her people from the siege of the assyrian army. She pretends to ally herself with the enemy and kills general holofernes after seducing him. In our painting she is depicted triumphant as she shows the enemy's head to her people. Painting that develops vertically, characterized by bright colours, fabulous dynamism and full of characters. Note the quality of the drapery, the meticulous details of the robes and the masterfully painted jewels. Wood and plaster frame, carved and gilded (bronze colour), with some signs of aging. Artwork with a difficult to read signature at the bottom right (see photo) under study. Painting that has undergone restoration with partial relining, replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some places (see photo). Overall in good state of conservation.
