This remarkable bench, made between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, around 1880–1910, captivates with its unique appearance, the richness of its carved decoration, and its elegant proportions. Its structure in warm-toned brown wood is enhanced by magnificent carved lion heads, true signatures of this characterful piece of furniture. The two armrests end with superb finely carved lion heads, featuring detailed manes and expressive faces. These figures give the whole piece an almost architectural presence and a pronounced elegance. The wood, in warm tones of walnut and patinated brown, showcases beautiful curves and a carved decoration composed of scrolls, leafy motifs, and relief ornaments. The richly worked apron highlights the refinement of the structure, while the curved and carved legs add an elegant line to the whole. The generously padded seat is dressed in a new fabric with an ivory background, adorned with a rich geometric and floral design in deep red, rust, brown, powder pink, and grey-blue tones. The structure is stable; it has undergone subsequent repairs (see photo), there are some signs of wood-boring insect presence (filled holes and preventive treatment carried out), and a small piece is missing from one leg (see photo as well). These details regarding its condition are logical given its age, but it is in good state of preservation. This bench will easily find its place in a characterful entrance, an elegant living room, a refined bedroom, or a country house with a carefully curated decor. More than just a simple seat, it constitutes a true decorative element, capable of adding depth and a strong identity to a room.
