Wim Rietveld, Gispen, lamppost '6320' grasshopper, Netherlands 1953. Important post-war design, this very rare model of adjustable lamp '6320' by Dutch designer Wim Rietveld who designed for the Dutch company Gispen in 1953. After 1953, it was only produced for a few years, and production ceased as soon as the famous Panama lamp proved to be a greater commercial success for the company. The striking asymmetrical position of the insect-like base and the optimistic colour palette are typical features of the design of the fifties, and although it was designed more than 60 years ago, it still evokes a remarkable timeless atmosphere. Mark the great finishing details; construction of the adjustable lightweight arm mechanism and aluminum shade, decently covered wiring, heavy solid metal base and sturdy floor switch. The Dutch furniture company Gispen was founded in 1916 by industrial designer Willem Hendrik Gispen (1890-1981) and mainly produced steel furniture (tubular) for the home and office. Until the 1960s, the company worked with several famous Dutch designers such as Gerrit Rietveld, Wim Rietveld and Andre Cordemeyer. W 114 cm, D 42 cm, H 190 cm
