What a pretty object! With this beautiful shape worked with care and a pretty veining, clearly visible on the wood which could be cedar. All this for a utilitarian object: keeping the shape of your shoes! Today it makes an original decorative object, to place or why not hang on the wall as a collection. This shoe tree (left foot) is in two wooden parts, connected by a chrome-plated metal tube and a spring inside, which allows the two pieces to be brought together to insert the shoe tree into the shoe, and then the 2 parts move away and hold out the shoe. It probably dates from the 60s or 70s. It has a metal label indicating "allen edmonds" an american brand of luxury clothing and accessories. Below a half-erased marking reads “created with pride usa”, as well as an “s”. It is in good structural condition: the spring does its job, but shows some signs of its age: a small crack underneath, but shallow, so not annoying, various small marks on the wood. It measures approximately 28cm in length, 8.5cm in width, 5cm in height and weighs approximately 200g.
