Antique indian four poster bed

This is a beautiful indian four posted bed which dates to the early 20th century. Made of teak and indian hardwood the bed is the size of a large single bed or small double, rather cozy for two people. The bed has the benefit of splitting into ten pieces which makes it easy to dismantle and reassemble in any home. The ten pieces are, head and tail board, rattan base and two side supports, top frame and four bed posts. There are four large bolts which fix the head and tail boards in place and the four bed posts screw into the head and tail boards. The bed has a pierced and carved decorative headboard which is carved with a wedding date and inset with two edward the VII coins. The tailboard is slatted and the bed base made from woven rattan. To either corner are tall turned bedposts which are surmounted by a wooden frame which could be fitted with curtains if desired. The wood has a natural looking waxed finish. Condition. The bed is generally in good condition with some cosmetic marks. There is a small area of damage to the rattan base and the wooden bed posts have had newer screw inserts fitted to make them sturdy and stable. There would have originally been two more coins in headboard which have been removed at some point in time. Measurements. Height to top of canopy-186cms. Height to bed-60cms. Width-122cms. Length-214cms. The measurements are taken at the widest points and the bed splits down into ten easy to manage pieces.
