We are delighted to offer for sale this original Anglo-Indian colonial bookcase made of solid rosewood, hand-carved on a chest of drawers dating from around 1880. A very aesthetic and decorative piece, handmade, adorned with numerous fan-shaped carved motifs and floral details. The upper part is a glass-fronted bookcase that rests on a chest of drawers with two rows of drawers (two drawers per row). The piece has been cleaned, waxed, and polished from top to bottom. Normal age and use-related marks, as well as some old repairs, are present, which is to be expected for a piece of furniture over 140 years old that has travelled the world. The furniture consists of two easily transportable parts: the upper bookcase and the lower chest of drawers. Dimensions are taken at the widest point. Please ask questions if needed before bidding. The condition is good with age-appropriate wear and slight discolouration. The piece comes from West Sussex, United Kingdom.
