This Mid-Century floor lamp from the 1960s combines two unusual forms: an organically curved glass base and a steeply rising shade in brilliant red. The base is executed as a standing sphere of opal glass, set off from the shaft by a brass ring. Mounted at the top is a conical shade made of red fabric, the so-called pagode, which rises prominently and creates a striking colour accent in the room. The opal glass base has an organically rounded form that appears restful in its white opacity and visually contrasts with the red shade. At a total height of 143 cm, the 1960s floor lamp is designed as a dominant light source. Illumination is indirect through the glass base and downward through the shade, creating a soft light character. In the living room of an Altbau apartment or in a high-ceilinged room with parquet flooring, the vintage floor lamp unfolds its effect best. The combination of white glass base and red pagode shade was typical of German living room style in the early 1970s and is rarely found today as a fully functional piece.
